Set out before dawn from Aswan for a full‑day road trip to Abu Simbel, the monumental twin temples carved into the sandstone by Ramesses II. The drive runs along Lake Nasser and takes you to one of Egypt’s most dramatic archaeological sites: the Great Temple with its four colossal seated statues of Ramesses, and the nearby ‘Small Temple’ dedicated to Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor.
