Leave Aswan early with a licensed Egyptologist and travel along the Nile to two remarkable Ptolemaic-age temples. Kom Ombo stands out for its symmetrical 'double' layout: the southern half honors Sobek, the crocodile god associated with fertility, while the northern half is devoted to Horus — a design that produced paired courts, halls and duplicate sanctuaries. Nearby you may also see finds related to the temple cult, including crocodile mummies displayed at local museum cases. Later the tour continues to Edfu, where the Temple of Horus is one of Egypt’s most intact ancient sanctuaries. Built in the Ptolemaic period on top of earlier remains, Edfu preserves extensive reliefs and inscriptions that illustrate myth and ritual, including the mythic struggle of Horus and Set. The itinerary balances expert archaeological commentary, time for photos and independent exploration, then returns to your Aswan hotel at day’s end.
